Function / Content

This series consists of mineral royalty files which include the correspondence and calculations relating to royalties and payments. Files dating from the Commonwealth period were titled by lease name as the Mining Ordinance 1939 calculated royalty payments on the value and tonnage of the mineral from specific leases. Files still in use after the introduction of the Mineral Royalty Act in 1982 had their titles changed to reflect the changes in royalty collection (net value from multiple leases). File titles were changed to record the name of the holder of the lease/s (company or individual) and the new lease number system. NTRS 2414/P1 includes two files relating to the multiple leases of United Uranium No Liability (box 1) and two consolidated royalty files for Peko Wallsend, Geopeko Ltd, Australian Ores & Minerals, and Shell Mineral Exploration (box 16). NTRS 2414/P2 contains files relating to Petrocarb Exploration No Liability and the Plenty River Mining Company, including a copy of the Deed of Assignment between the two companies (on the Plenty River Mining Company file).
