Function / Content

This series consists of mineral royalty registers with a separate index recording royalty payments on mining leases in the Darwin, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs regions. The index is an alphabetical listing of lease names and includes the lease number, folio number and name of register (Darwin/Tennant Creek/Alice Springs) for each entry. The index appears to have been created in the mid-1970s as it refers only to leases current at that time. The Tennant Creek and Alice Springs registers consist of 13 columns which record: Period, Lease No., Name of Lease, Lessee, Metal or Mineral, Tonnage Ore Treated, Metal or Mineral There-from [weight], Gold Fine Ozs, Gross Proceeds as per Bank, Mint, or Buyers Return, Total Proceeds, Royalty, Date Paid, and Receipt No. The Darwin register includes all of this information plus an extra column to record Gold Tax.
