Function / Content

This series consists of a correspondence files relating to the transfer of mineral reef reward claims from deceased estates. These files include a cover sheet listing the reward claim number, the subject and the devolution. The file is comprised of letters related to the application and the relevant Supreme Court of the Northern Territory documents and related forms; these vary across the applications. The correspondence files where collected by the Mines Branch, head office, which was established in 1928 in Darwin, in February 1942 the head office was moved from Darwin to Tennant Creek and again in July 1942 to Alice Springs where it remained until 1953 when the head office was moved back to Darwin. Following this move the Mines Branch Alice Springs became its own record keeping body.
