Function / Content

This series consists of general correspondence concerning Tennant Creek's government batteries including Battery No.1, Battery No.2 and Battery No.3. This correspondence covers multiple topics including staff holiday pay, battery oil, crushing lists, copies of requisitions and basic wage enquiries. The correspondence consists of letters, telegrams, and circular memoranda. Files relating specifically to the battery returns of individual gold mines in the Tennant Creek region including the Eldorado and the Rising Sun are also included. Also on file is correspondence relating to other mining matters in the Tennant Creek region including lease application and transfer of leases as well as files relating specifically to William Weaber and his estate as it related to the Rising Sun mine as well as a file relating to Fazel Deen who operated a cyanide plant and Battery, this is sometimes referred to as Mount Samuel Battery.
