This series consists of correspondence files relating to an application for permission to drill. Each file contaions a locality map, drilling programme, recommendation by Bureau of Mineral Resources, recommendation and approval by the mining authority, revisions to programme, daily drilling reports, weekly ecological reports, summary of drilling operations - weekly reports, transmittal notes for data consigned by driller, and instructions for filing data in the Geological Library Each file cover has documented the locality and the heading 'Well File' at the top and the bottom right hand corner, the holder of the petroleum tenement and the exploration permit number recorded.
