This series consists of one register of Authorities granted under Section 147 of the Mining Ordinance. The Administrator, and pending a recommendation to the Administrator a warden, was able to temporarily reserve Crown land from occupation under Section 147 of the Mining Ordinance. Where the Administrator had made this reservation he could further authorise a corporation created by statute by the Commonwealth or an authority established by the Commonwealth or a person who had entered into a contract with the Commonwealth relating to the exploration or development of deposits of a particular mineral, to occupy and mine the reserved land, or a part of it, for such period and on such conditions as he saw fit. Both the Authority and its cancellation had to be notified via Gazette. The inside cover has a list of Authorities. Each page has recorded the Authority number, the name of the applicant, the lodgement date, the boundaries of the locality in the application, the approval date and the renewal or cancellation date. Applicants include Geopeko for the Woodcutters Mine near Batchelor.
