Function / Content

This series consists of applications for prospecting assistance in the Hatches Creek area including receipts for reimbursement of monies and expenditure as well as related correspondence. The applications are recorded on an Application and Agreement for Grant for Prospecting Purposes form in which the applicant has requested Commonwealth assistance, primarily in the form of rations and tools. The application includes the suggested itinerary for planned activities and a full statement of anticipated costs and expenses. The applications have been signed by the applicant/s and the relevant administrator. The final part of the form is the receipt where, if successful, the applicant has acknowledged and signed that they have received a listed amount. Included with each file is associated correspondence including itemised receipts for supplies from various suppliers (these include the Centralian Cash Store and Wallis Fogarty Limited, General Merchants). Also included with some application are Mines Branch Prospector's Stores Orders authorising stores to sell wares to the applicants and to what amount as well as letters sent within the Mines Branch relating to the application/acquittal of the application.
