Function / Content

This series consists of the Land Office copies of Crown Leases approved as Northern Territory Gold Mining Leases under the relevant mining legislation operational within the Northern Territory. The leases record the date; the gold mining lease number; name of lessee; situate; the signature of the Chief Clerk and Draughtsman; volume and folio in the Register book with the signature of the Registrar-General; measurement of land and section number with sketch; date when lease would commence; length of lease; yearly rental; lease payment date; and all the terms and condiitons of the lease. The lease has been signed and dated by the Government Resident of the Northern Territory and then by the Lessee in the presence of the Chief Warden. Some contain receipts of payment or letters of transfer and other notes such as that on Gold Mining Lease 604 referring to Determination 3090.
