Function / Content

This series consists of a bound register of Declarations of Trust, including correspondence relating to each declaration, which were recorded under the regulations of the Northern Territory Mining Act 1903. These declarations allow a trustee to declare, in respect of a property/mining lease/mining interest, that the property is being held on behalf of another person. The trustee relationship is not disclosed on the form. Each appointment is allocated a number which is handwritten on the top of each form. This form records the name of the person/s making the declaration, their location, the possession and to whom it is in trust. This information is dated, signed and witnessed. The back of the form contains summary information and, in some cases, the signature of the relevant mining warden. Many of the forms in the register have been later annotated by the Warden regarding their cancellation.
