Function / Content

This series consists of files containing power of attorney forms, statutory declarations and related correspondence. Many documents on file are notated by the Warden/Mining Register. Each file is sorted by year of lodgement and is contained in a Mine Branch file cover. Each power of attorney form, created under the Mining Ordinance 1939, records the name and location of those assigning and assigned power of attorney and the individual or organisation creating the order that they will, at all times, ratify and confirm the actions using this power. This is signed and witnessed and the relevant warden or mining registrar who notes the gold or mineral field that the mining interests are located on and also signs and cites receipt of the agreement and the receipt of the fee of five shillings. Each application is numbered with a duty stamp affixed.
