Description

The Department of Community Services was created for the second time in 2013 as part of administrative change. Regional Development transferred out of the former Department of Regional Development and Indigenous Advancement to create the new Department, together with the Aboriginal Areas Protection Authority, under the leadership of Rob Kendrick as its Chief Executive.
The stated core business of the Department was to 'work with stakeholders in remote communities and homelands across the Northern Territory to build local economies, deliver infrastructure, support regional services and coordinate remote service delivery'. The Department improved outcomes through 'effective engagement, service delivery, coordination of initiatives, policy and provision of interpreter and translator services'.
