This series consists of one volume of suspense accounts and one volume of suspense and Land Office Collectors Trust accounts. The term "suspense account" can have several different meanings, depending on the context. In the business world generally, a suspense account is a section of a company's financial books where it can record ambiguous entries that need further analysis to determine their proper classification. In mortgage servicing, the servicer can use a suspense account to park funds temporarily if a borrower has made only a partial payment for that month. In investing, a suspense account is a type of brokerage account where a customer's proceeds from selling an investment may be recorded until the customer uses the money to invest in something else. Each page has the month, day, subject, and an amount with a total at the end. The heading across the pages is HM[His Majesty] Government suspense account which changes in 1911 to Land Office collectors trust account. Book two documents the year at the top of the LHS [left hand side] page with the month, day, subject, receipt number, folio number, amount and amount total. The RHS [right hand side] opposite page records the date, subject, folio number, cheque number, amount, and amount total with a balance brought forward to the top and bottom of each page. The subject of the payments varies from grazing applications and mineral lease transfer of pastoral permits to refund of applications and permits.
