Function / Content

This series consists of correspondence files relating to the registration of religious ministers authorised to conduct marriages and issue licences under civil legislation. The files were originally kept in numerical order and then around 1950 the active and inactive registrations were separated. The active files were renumbered, nos.85-126 became nos.17-38, and then added to. The inactive files were cancelled and are available in NTRS 3251. The copy of the certificate of registration is folded around the related correspondence and includes nos.17-156 (with gaps).
