Function / Content

This series consists of inquiry files relating to deaths and fires, including inquests held and inquests deemed unnecessary. In the early part of the series several files were bundled together and each file included the number, name, date of death and place of death on the file cover. Later, separate files were opened for each case. Files include reports, correspondence and photographs. Box nos 57-58 include files relating to victims of Cyclone Tracy. Some language used in these records (which reflects the language used at the time the records were created) may be offensive. This collection may contain references to Aboriginal people who have died, which may cause sadness and distress to their relatives. No offence has been intended by making these records available. Care and discretion should be used when viewing these records.
