Function / Content

This series consists of a Head Office register of reward mineral leases, residential leases and machinery leases for District A [Pine Creek, Agicondi goldfield]. The Mines Branch, Head Office was moved to Alice Springs during the period 1942-1953, and then moved back to Darwin. The inside cover has an index and a note explaining that "folios 248 and 249 have been extracted from the register to be used by stores as samples to order new registers." The register records details of number, total number of shares, locality, area, application dates both received and recommended, lease details, name of lease, registered lessees, transfers, exemptions, rent, survey fees and encumbrances.

Recordkeeping System

One only divided numerical register with several classes of holdings - RML [reward mining lease] prefix with A suffix at folio 1; RL [residential leases] prefix with A suffix at folios 2-9 and the machinery lease is at folio 250.
