Function / Content

This series consists of lease files relating to mining tenure. The files deal with a range of mining tenure including mineral leases (ML), gold mining leases (GML), residential leases (RL), mineral leases central (MLC), business areas (BA), residence areas (RA), prospecting areas (PA), machinery areas (MA), garden areas (GA), quarry areas (QA), authorised holdings (HLDC), mineral claims (MC), subterranean water rights (SWR) and pipe transfer water rights (PTWR). The files contain applications for leases which record the location and mineral field of the lease, type of mining for mineral leases (eg Wolfram), type of lease, deposit paid, company and person's name, warden's details and miners' right details. Further correspondence on the files deals with lease transfers, cancellations, surrenders, resumptions, exemptions and related Warden's Court hearings.
