This series consists of correspondence files relating to the administration of livestock brands in the Northern Territory. The files were administered by the Stock and Brands Department of the Northern Territory, but because the Northern Territory was split into two administrative regions between 1927 and 1932 some file covers refer to the Stock and Brands Branch of North Australia. Subjects in the correspondence include applications for the registration, transfer, or cancellation of brands, the moving of stock, offences and breaches of ordinances and regulations, such as illegal branding or blotching, moving unmarked stock, and complaints.
