Function / Content

This series consists of a government astray logbook - possibly compiled by the government agency responsible for primary industry - recording bore information along the registered stock routes of the Northern Territory. In some instances, such as when the stock route followed a river course, the river or a natural water hole provided permanent water - for example Cullanjacky water hole on the Murranji stock route. Entries against each bore include details of the map reference; date constructed and by whom; depth; depth at which they struck water; water level; depth to pump; quality; supply; salinometer test (for some); casing; tanks; trough; float valve if present; pipe bore to tank; pipe tank to trough; pumping plant; pump column, pump; rods; fencing and remarks. Each bore has noted the mileage to the next bore on the stock route. Strata soil analysis and images have been included for many of the bores.
