Function / Content

This series consists of application files for bores in the Northern Territory. The file covers record the bore agreement number, name of applicant, locality, pastoral/lease number and drought relief bore. These records contain original memoranda of agreement between the Administrator of the Northern Territory and lessees of pastoral leases in the matter of sinking of bores, the cost of the work and maintenance of the equipment at the bores (numbers 1 to 38). From number 39 the agreements were replaced by Applications for Assistance in Supplying Water for Pastoral Purposes (in time of drought) although they were still referred to as bore agreements and continued to use the same numbering system. Information recorded includes applicant's names, address, pastoral lease number, district, payment agreement, date, signed by witness and lessee.
