Function / Content

This series consists of mineral royalty returns files which were kept in order of goldfield district. The nine goldfields in the Northern Territory were identified by district as; A (Agicondi), B (Waggaman), C (McArthur River), D (Maranboy), E (Warramunga), F (Kurundi), G (Granites), H (Arunta), and K (Daly River). Royalty return forms were required to be completed every 6 months and sent to the Mines Branch (later the Department of Mines and Energy). The forms recorded the amount and value of any mineral from each lease. This information was then checked so the royalty could be calculated. NTRS 2416/P1 contains returns from leases in each of the 9 goldfields. NTRS 2416/P2 consists of returns from the Warramunga and Kurundi Goldfields. NTRS 2416/P3 is made up of returns from the Groote Eylandt Mining Company (GEMCO).
