This series consists of registers of prospecting areas for wolfram and gold on the Granites goldfield maintained by the Mines Branch, Head Office. Column titles include; number, total number of shares, description of ground, area, application, registration fee, extension of registration fee, registered owner (name, miner's right, number of shares), transfers (number, date, transferee, number of shares), exemption (number, from, to), date of permit to crush and quantity, crushings (date, ore treated, gold therefrom), and encumbrances. Volume 1 includes entries for prospecting areas nos PA1G-PA5G on pages 1-5, this register also contains one entry for a tailing area relating to gold extraction (page 51, no.TA1G), and a licence to treat mining material (page 81, no.1/50). Volume 2 contains entries for nos PA1G-PA10G (PA1G-PA5G are incomplete copies of the entries in volume 1) on pages 1-10. The nine goldfields in the Northern Territory were identified by district as; A (Agicondi), B (Waggaman), C (McArthur River), D (Maranboy), E (Warramunga), F (Kurundi), G (Granites), H (Arunta), and K (Daly River).
