Function / Content

This series consists of day journals which record the daily activities of the police on duty. Details recorded include patrols, people questioned, people charged and a brief description of the person and charge as well as the meals provided. The time and name of the officer involved in the activity is also recorded. Notes are recorded in the margins of the entries. Additional information is inserted in some journals relating to matters such as interstate vehicles stopped; property lists of people charged and instructions from senior police officers. The journals are also a source of information relating to local activities which may have drawn the attention of the police. Some language used in these records (which reflects the language used at the time the records were created) may be offensive. This series may contain references to Aboriginal people who have died, which may cause sadness and distress to their relatives. No offence has been intended by making these records available. Care and discretion should be used when viewing these records.
