Function / Content

This series consists of complaints and enquires journals which record the daily complaints and enquires to Casuarina Police Station. The journals are handwritten containing records of complaints and enquires received by radio, phone or from the front counter. Details in the journal are recorded by running number for the month with month and year; complaint/enquiry with date at the top of page; member; action taken, when further up action on a later day it refers back to original number. Details vary from missing persons, assaults, possible break and enter, stolen property, domestic disturbance and disturbances. Actions taken records police officer's name, rank and the action taken, taking reports/statements, breaking up disturbances, rescuing person, boat or item, notifying person of message received from interstate re family matters, attending addresses to check on property and locating stolen property. This series may contain references to Aboriginal people who have died, which may cause sadness and distress to their relatives. No offence has been intended by making these records available.
