The volume is divided into three sections Prisoner Register, Register of Reported Felonies and Warrant Book. Each section is recorded in chronological order.

Function / Content

This series consists of one bound volume containing the Prisoner Register from Arltunga Police Station. Prisoner Register is written on the binding of this volume but also includes the Register of Reported Felonies (1885-1916) and Warrant Book (1885-1897). The cover page of this volume is inscribed with Yardea Police Station which was open between 1885-1887 at which point the register was likely transferred to Nectar Brook Police Station (1897 - 1899) and then Arltunga Police Station (1899-1944). The Prisoner register was recorded by Nectar Brook Police Station from 1897-1899, and then by Arltunga Police Station from 1899-1938. The register records the following information for each individual; name, age, sex, profession or calling, constable apprehending, where apprehending, where apprehended, their felony/misdemeanour against the person or against property, drunkenness and other petty offences, the result of examination (discharged, summarily convicted or committed) and finally the name of the magistrate. The dates covered in this section are from 24/03/1897 to 31/01/1938. The Register of Reported Felonies was recorded by Yardea Police Station (1885-1887), Nectar Brook Police Station (1897-1899) and Arltunga Police Station (1899-1916). The register records the number, date of felony, date when reported to police, crime and property stolen - from whom and where, if apprehended, by whom apprehended, result of examination and remarks - stating whether property was recovered or not, in whose possession. The dates covered, from first reported felony to last covers from 18/05/1885 to 26/05/1916. The Warrant Book was recorded by Yardea Police Station (1885-1887) and Nectar Brook (1897). The register records the date of warrant, by whom issues, against whom issues, offence, by whom and where executed, date of execution and remarks. Dates covered are from 08/04/1885 to 05/11/1897.
