This series consists of birth registers maintained by the maternity unit of the Katherine Hospital in the Northern Territory. The Katherine Hospital provided for the health needs of the population of Katherine Town and region, which covered the area between the Western Australian and Queensland borders from Dunmarra to the south and Pine Creek to the north.
