The Department of the Chief Minister and Cabinet was formed on the 8 September 2020 following the 2020 Legislative Assembly election. The department combines the existing functions of the former Department of the Chief Minister (DCM) and the Office of the Commissioner for Public Employment with the Territory Economic Reconstruction Commission; Major Projects Commissioner; Investment Territory; Aboriginal Affairs including the Aboriginal Interpreter Service; the Treaty Commissioner; local government and community development.
