Function / Content

This series consists of crown leases for the District of Central Australia which were issued under the Crown Lands Ordinance. The leases are held in volumes (split from bindings during a scanning project undertaken by the agency prior to transfer). The types of leases include town lands, miscellaneous, pastoral and gold mining. Information recorded on the leases includes records volume and folio number, type of lease, lease no, name, location and occupation, area of lease, rent, conditions of lease, plan, and signatures. Land improvements and time frames, transfer, discharge of mortgage and cancellation details are also included. The leases are sealed and authorised by the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Lessee, and witness. The plans are authorised by the Registrar-General and Surveyor General.
