Function / Content

This series consist of the Surveyor's diary kept by Thomas John Worgan on the Tanami Goldfield during 1909-1911. Worgan kept a record of telegrams and letters sent to the Minister and the Government Resident in Darwin regarding the development of the Tanami Goldfield. Topics include: water and sinking bores, provision of a mail service to Tanami, gold discoveries, violent confrontations between prospectors and Aboriginals, and recommendations from the Progress Committee. This estray was donated by Thomas John Worgan's granddaugher, Fleur Worgan Johnson.
