Function / Content

This series consists of an unbound register recording the distribution of field books to surveyors, with a description of the contents of each book. The information in the register was recorded under the following headings; ref, name [of surveyor], field book no., locality, details, and remarks. Included are details of field books relating to the Barkely [Barkly] Tablelands stock route (1939), aerodrome site in Katherine (1940), museum site in Alice Springs (1948), and Brunette Downs racecourse (1958). The register also refers to the field books of TA Ellison in 1935 which recorded the details of surveys he conducted around Pine Creek, including the recreation reserve, old cemetery reserve, and the resurvey of the town. This government record was returned to the Northern Territory Archives Service by Mr Vern O'Brien.
