Function / Content

This series consists of a work diary of WM Clipstone. The diary has a note against 31 January 1950 stating that he "assumes duties with municipal [clerical] section [of Lands and Survey Branch]. There is no evidence of this person being a registered surveyor in the Northern Territory. The diary has large gaps in daily notes, but mostly comments on the weather and personnel issues including survey party movements and membership, appointments of cadet surveyors, movement of staff to other sections, resignation and leave of staff and a ministerial visit. A lengthy entry had been made on Monday 6 March concerning a judgement from a Warden's Court and a misquote from GK Chesterton's "The Donkey" has been entered on 13 November.
