How to Use the Records

This series contains details of files registered in the first system used by the survey section. The files from the first system are not held at the Northern Territory Archives Service or the National Archives of Australia. The bulk of the second system files (F649) are held by the Northern Territory Archives Service. The National Archives of Australia holds a portion of F649 and the registers and indexes relating to this series.

Function / Content

This series consists of a file register and subject index for correspondence files relating to survey matters. The register consists of a numerical listing of files in the first seven pages detailing the file number and subject, with a subject index listing files from A to Y with columns detailing new file number, current file number and subject. The register has been annotated to record details of dead files.
