Description

The Nursing and Midwifery Office was established by the Northern Territory Department of Health in July 2012. The Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer (CNMO) commenced on 30 July 2012.
The function of the Office is to provide professional leadership for Northern Territory Nurses and Midwives. The Office works with operational units Territory wide to improve service delivery within the Northern Territory Department of Health including acute care, mental health, and primary health care divisions.
The Office provides a link between the Northern Territory Department of Health, as the largest employer of nurses and midwives, and the education sector through Charles Darwin University, Centre for Remote Health, Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education, Menzies School of Health Research and other education providers.
