Function / Content

This series consists of general orders, memoranda, and warrants issued to the Gaoler at Darwin Prison by the Sheriff of Darwin, and orders received from the Governor-General of Australia. The 137 folios include an order from the Governor-General, Sir Isaac Isaacs, postponing the execution of Tuckiar in 1934. The Public Record Office of Victoria transferred these papers, and microfiche copies, to the Northern Territory Archives Service in 1991.
