Function / Content

This series consists of remission registers which were used to calculate reductions of prisoners sentences based on a points system for good behaviour. The registers contain the following information on a monthly basis for all prisoners; registration number of prisoner, name, daily tally of marks for good behaviour, total for the month, brought forward, total (credit and servitude), total of sentence, sentence in days, balance to be served, and remarks. Aboriginal prisoners were identified in the registers with the term abo. From 1946 women prisoners were identified as female and from 1965 the lists of names include minors identifed with the term juvenile.
