Function / Content

This series consists of a photograph album relating to a history project on the Tiwi Islands funded by the National Trust. The album contains 44 photographs showing historic sites around the Tiwi Islands relating to the Second World War. Included are images of the airstrip and fuel dump at Snake Bay, former army barracks at Nguiu, and the site of a military aircraft crash near Nguiu. The front and back inside covers are annotated with the names and locations of various heritage sites. This series may contain images of Aboriginal people who have since died, which may cause sadness and distress to their relatives. No offence has been intended by making these images available.
