This series consists of control cards used for the administration of livestock brands in the Northern Territory. The cards are divided into three sections to distinguish a set of cards for three-letter brands with an inverted 'T', a second set of cards for departmental and pound brands, and a third set for brands from the South Australian system implemented before the existence of Northern Territory branding legislation. The cards record earmarks, distinctive brands, and distinctive numerals registered with the brand. Further details included a related file and folio number, name and address of the brand owner, a note whether the brand was being transferred or allotted, and a date of transfer of brand and certificate number. Entries on the cards were updated to note transfers and cancellations of brands.
