This series consists of survey plans referred to by the Department of Lands as the "S" series. The plans record the survey detail for the area designated, including portion or lot number, area of property, location of adjoining property, and streets. The plans are certified by a licensed surveyor and include references to the file number, date examined, instructions, field book, drawn by, and survey approved by delegate of the Surveyor-General. A legend and azimuth reference are included. The plans are in a scale of feet to inches, then changes to centimetres to metres in mid-1972. These plans are small, medium and large format plans recorded on tracing paper. The S plans began in 1971 and are Crown surveys; this system superseding all previous Crown survey plan numbering system.
