This series consists of one register in four volumes recording applications for mineral claims and residence areas in the Darwin/Waggaman Goldfield District. [District B] Each volume of the register records number of the tenement, the total number of shares, the date of application and registration, the class of holding - in this case mineral claims and residence areas, the area applied for, the area surveyed and the date of the survey, registration fee and rent, survey fee, locality and description of boundaries, date certificate issued, registered shareholder details, details of transfers, details of encumbrances, exemptions and rent. Some entries include the name of the mine, such as Fleur-de-Lys No. 1 and the type of mineral including the names or chemical symbols used for uranium, tin, copper, bismuth, sand, gravel, zinc, wolfram, lead and thorium. Volume four appears to be laid out slightly differently to the other three volumes, but contains the same information. This volume of the register records the number of the tenement, the total number of shares, the locality, the locality description, the date of application and registration, the area registered, the area surveyed and the date, the class of holding - in this case mineral claims, the particular minerals, registered shareholder details, details of transfers, exemptions, rent and details of encumbrances.

Recordkeeping System

One only numerical register in four volumes with MC [mineral claims or RA [residence area] prefix with B [Darwin/Waggaman goldfield] suffix. Volume 2 of the register commences with the record of tenements RA 1B-9B. Records of tenements MC 152B-191B follow with the records of tenements MC 101B-151B last. Volume 4 is laid out differently as noted above.
