Function / Content

This series consists of a registers of applications for protected mining leases, in Northern Region of the Northern Territory including Darwin. Each register includes; number, date, hour, name of applicants, name and situation of claim, area in acres, land offer number, yearly rental, period of protection (rent paid to) and remarks. Notes have been added in red for when the lease has been struck out, refused, surrendered, see reference, lapsed or approved have been added to the register after the initial information applied. Volume 1 has different indexes on first 4 pages; page 1, in existence by 1st day of August 1915 is by lease type, number of lease number and name of section, area of lease and locality. The other pages have other indexes or notes stuck on them. Volume 2 indexes are on front cover pages by name, lease number and then mine name, lease number.
