This series consists of reports relating to timber production in the Northern Territory and in particular at Snake Bay, Melville Island. The reports were written by JW (Jim) Gayton, Works Supervisor. Included are reports on inspections of the sawmill at Snake Bay, and the timber stands on Melville Island, and a general report on timber in the Northern Territory. There is also a large typewritten chart titled "Table 1; results of tests on miscellaneous Northern Territory timbers" which gives details of the types of timbers and their relative strength, density and moisture content.
